Urban Asado: A Decade Around the Fire
In 2014, Urban Asado was built around one simple idea: Experience Grilling.
Long before there was a waterfront restaurant, we were loading up handcrafted grills and hosting pop-ups wherever we could, in parking lots, overgrown fields, and at community events throughout St. Augustine. Every fire we lit was an opportunity to bring people together, support local charities, and introduce others to the culture of Argentine-inspired asado.
What started as a passion project quickly became something much bigger. It's a belief that's guided us from the very beginning:
"A touch of history inspires every meal prepared on an Argentine grill. A history filled with passion and respect for the food to be shared with family and friends. That same history inspires each of our handcrafted grills."
One of our earliest asados after launching Urban Asado took place right here at the Shipyard. We had just picked up our very first T-shirt order, all six of them, from Sports Corner and decided to set up a pop-up nearby. That day introduced us to our friends at Honoring the Brave and connected us with so many incredible organizations throughout the community.
We certainly never imagined that we'd one day return to that very same shipyard with a restaurant right next door.
Today, we're back where so much of the journey began, printing our 10-year anniversary shirts at Sports Corner, just steps away from Asado Life. While a lot has changed over the last decade, the heart of what we do remains the same.
Live-fire cooking is still at the center of every experience we create. Urban Asado continues to design and fabricate the handcrafted grills that keep the fire going at the restaurant and bring authentic live-fire cooking to homes, chefs, and hospitality spaces across the country.
Looking back, we’re reminded that this journey began with a single fire, a handful of T-shirts, and a community that believed in what we were building.
Thank you for being part of the journey!
