Smithey Ironware

Where Craftsmanship Meets Tradition

Smithey Ironware started in a backyard woodshed, where founder Isaac Morton spent his free time restoring old cast-iron cookware. He was drawn to the details that made vintage pieces special, from smooth cooking surfaces and timeless logos to the feeling that each skillet had a story behind it. What began as a hobby quickly became a craft as Isaac brought rusty, forgotten pieces back to life and shared them with friends and family.

After years of studying collector's books and restoring antique cast iron, Isaac began wondering what it would look like to create something entirely new. He loved the character and performance of vintage cookware but saw an opportunity to combine those qualities with modern techniques and precision manufacturing. That idea became Smithey Ironware.

A Shared Appreciation for the Craft

Today, Smithey pieces are inspired by generations of cast-iron making, while designed for the way people cook today. Each skillet, griddle, and Dutch oven reflects the same attention to detail that first sparked Isaac's interest years ago, balancing timeless design with everyday performance.

It's a philosophy that feels familiar at Asado Life. Both brands are rooted in craftsmanship and community, with a deep appreciation for the moments that happen around food and fire. Whether it's a cast-iron skillet at the center of a family table or a meal prepared over live flames, Smithey and Asado Life believe great cooking starts with quality, care, and attention to detail.

That connection to fire has shaped Asado Life from the beginning. Our dishes are cooked over handcrafted parrilla grills using traditional live-fire techniques that define our kitchen.

Where It All Began

It all started at Urban Asado along the San Sebastian River, where shrimp boats dock along Riberia Street. What began as a waterfront gathering place soon grew into something more. Today, that original space is still home to our grill fabrication studio, where our handcrafted parrillas are built, along with Leña, our custom mobile kitchen that brings live-fire cooking and pop-up asados to private events throughout the region.

That foundation continues to guide everything we do at Asado Life. In many ways, both brands share a deep respect for tradition while continually finding new ways to bring it to life, creating experiences that feel authentic and made for today.
